Im gonna be doin something like this tommorow, putting real coal on all the tenders and tanks aswell as in the yard, and this is proper coal that I got a massive load of from my local railway, the GWSR , and put it in a bag and hit it many times with a hammer1 Also I shall be doing the yard and sprinkling it with coal dust and coal and all over the hoppers, and other wagons aswell as blasting the bodys of the locos slightly to make a weathering effect!

No offense dude, but you forgot the white line around the bufferbeam. Other than that, that's just awesome!

I use clear plastic folder for windows (or acetate) because it's thin and quite flexible.

@Rabbitbunvoo I've uploaded a film of 4492,but I'm sad to say the picture quality is poor(filmed on a cameraphone)>I have hopes that Mrs P is talking o getting me a good camcorder around Christmas,so better footage is a possibility :-)

@Rabbitbunvoo Cheers! I have every intention of adding my 4492 New Zealand model & giving a little background on how I altered it.
Great Video with the tips and information. Half way through the video I enjoyed the chimes in the background. I guess coming from a nearby clock.

@dmncau Thanks! The chimes did indeed come from an old clock, which is wound-up once a week and sounds once every half-hour and the number of hours each hour! =D

Wonderful stuff-makes a valid point about the value of Railroad stock.A few touches with a paintbrush can turn a "cheap as chips" loco into something that looks a lot more valuable, but doesn't sting your wallet!
Did the same with a 4484 Falcon recently & it's now 4492 DoNZ,complete with aluminium/chrome numbers/letters & fully detailed cab.The latter I copied from the superdetailed Mallard, but even with the extras,it still only worked out at about £75.Great to see someone else's skilled work!

@Phippstickman Thank you for your kind words! =) My habit of detailing stems from wargaming-model painting, and so when I got my first engine (Railroad Patriot "Illustrious") I thought I could improve a bit with my brush. I love doing-up old models as well - every engine gets some attention - and I think they look great for it! Your project sounds great - you must get some footage of your work up soon, it'd be great to see it. =)

WOW, after doing all of that it looks just as good, if not better, than the special edition tornado, but for half the price, i'm gonna get a railroad version and do it up myself, thank you ;)

@NZtrainGuy =D No problem, really glad it helped! I find it's a lot more satisfying to do-it-yourself, and you can achieve stuff that even super-detail trains don't have! =) Take a look at the website too (modelrailwayreviews) as it has more stuff on there that might be of use! =)
