Many millennials, or the next generation, believe "organized religion" is not necessary to connect with or experience God. That may be true in some ways, but here's something that's crucial for real faith to thrive. For more from Bob Coy, go to activeword.org/blog

  • Now my personal testimony is that you're wrong about this: that taking away belief in Jesus will take away that which transforms your life and produces fruit. Setting religious dogma aside has transformed me in greater positive ways than ever as a believer, and my life continues to bear good fruit. I think it's terrible when pastors convey to kids that there's no positive life-source outside of belief in Jesus. I'm happy to report (along with countless others) that's not true.

  • I'm 29, left the church because I finally investigated the Bible for myself and it didn't check out as divine, but very man-made. My distaste for organized religion stems directly from how demonstrably crumbly religious dogma now appears to me (ie virgin birth, creationism, trinity, original sin, resurrection, Biblical infallibility, etc). I think many are leaving the church for similar reasons. It's not a packaging issue. I opened the package and sincerely believe the product is sour.

  • Calvary is an organized religion...Bob...You dolt

  • Small groups sound better and better to me. Its a matter of finding one where I "fit"

  • It's awesome to hear a pastor of a 17,000 member church say that meeting in a home with a handful of others is also a valid expression of church. Pastor Bob is refreshing! I was a part of CCFL for a number of years when I lived in Florida and the church was about 3000 people. Today I meet with a handful of Christians in a living room. BOTH are just as valid. His point about changing "the package" but making certain we don't change the content is also 100% right on and appreciated.

  • Dont worry Pastor BOB we know what you mean!=)

  • Well he did say" dont play with the product". Sounds fine to me.

  • not a fan of old traditions?
