Quick demo video demonstrating positional feedback capabilities of AX-12A Dynamixels.

This demo was made using the Bioloid Brackets and AX-12A Dynamixels, found here:

The microcontroller used was the Arbotix, found here:

The Arduino Code used in the demo can be found here:

  • is this feature on all dinamexels ?

  • @gaarasama0609 Yes it is. In fact, higher end dynamixels have even more features (such as current sensing, higher resolution, and 'pairing')

  • hey great vieo fellas.

i have a question, could i link a rotory encoder like a magnetic one to have absolute position control of the dynamixel or even multi-turn posts instead of doubling my dynamixel cost. so by putting multi-turn pots/rotory encoders on the control arm instead of the servo?

  • I like the video. Some feedback with the video editing, for the closeups it would be better if you cut the camera and reposition for a better view. Also wear a mic if possible. The distant shots your voice is a little low. I enjoy the videos a lot!

  • @mOtvIEtMap You probably wouldn't get quite as quick of a response time, but yes, totally doable. One of the projects I have planned is a telemetry suit made out of AX-12s + an arbotix, communicating with my robot Giger for arm motions.

  • hmm..... could you do this wirelessly thru xbee?

  • @scancool The Bioloid robot system is more for educational purposes than for creating practical robots. We have to teach robotics to the youth of today if we expect robot servants by the time we retire :P

  • Keep the videos coming!

  • Have you done anything useful with this robots? or is just for entertainment?
