I agree that the best way to learn a language is by immersing yourself in it. After all, that's how we learned our native language as children. However, listening to a podcast like Coffee Break Spanish (in addition to listening to native speakers), allows you to make sense of what you're hearing faster - it accelerates the learning process. An English explanation of "hablo, habla, hablas, hablamos, hablais, hablan" helps you to make sense of what you are hearing.

I am very happy to listen you.
I love to study languages but I've got no time to travel, podcasts and use of mp3 or mp4with little video tools are very useful to progress.
I studied english, russian and romanian at the university a long time ago, and I 've never learned anything in russian it was like studying greek or latin, impossible to communicate with a russian, that's horrible (easier in romanian, thanks the latin origin for a frenchman).I hope the Internet and mp3 will be helpful.
when listening how much of the language you are listening to should be comprehensable. In a %, roughly. I listen to radio and TV and get around 10-20% over the past 6 months. 3-4 hours a day.

I prefer to listen to content where 75% is comprehensible. That is why I focus on podcasts where transcripts are available. I find that listening to content that we do not understand does not help much.

thats quite hard to find as a beginner when i dont want to listen to kids tv shows and such. I find watching Chinese TV fun despite understanding little. What would you reccommend when you onl know around 1000 words? I'd use LingQ but im studying traditional characters.

I do not know. You can ask on the LingQ forum. You can also import traditional character text. I would learn both if I were you. I did. It opens up much more content.

Hey, sometimes I hear you talking about reading books in foreign languages. I was wondering if you know of any websites that sell books in foreign languages in America. I was looking at ebay but they didn't seem to have many.

Which languages? I think you have to search for books in the language that you are interested in. There is no shortage of sites selling Russian which I am studying right now.
