Sutherland -a dramatic coloratura soprano;Dessay-a lyric coloratura soprano.In der holle rache,Sutherland has it transposed down.Conversely,some of the low notes and dessay cant get down there.As well, different eras, diff acting expectations from producers and audiences.Still, Id rather be lifting Dessays,marie when she sings that end note in the horizontal position;Hernias all round for those guys in the Dames 1962 production,hahaha john from sydney

mmm ...... must be considered that Sutherland's voice is (she still lives) very big , a voice controlled with a technique very, very refined, with the power to sing any role in the opera, beginning Wagner until the bel canto
Natalie's voice can only perform a given repertoire
Sutherland's voice has no limits

Not only is she a brilliant opera singer but also a fantastic actress. Such a pretty combination.

She's always been better than Sutherland. Can you imagine Sutherland skipping along whilst producing perfect vocal lines? LOL
