Australian Theatre for Young People (atyp) has been engaging young people in the arts, in regional and remote Australia, for over ten years. We initiate and create programs in partnership with regional arts organisations and remote community groups.

Palm Island is a beautiful Aboriginal community situated 70km across the water from Townsville North Queensland. 2009 is atyp's second year working with the Palm Island young people and our regular tutors, actor Luke Carroll (Australian Rules, RAN) and film maker Samantha Lang (The Well, The Monkey's Mask).

Our tutors are highly-experienced, professional, performing artists who are skilled in teaching within the context of remote communities. atyp's Regional programs involve workshop-based activities, community support initiatives and on-going performing arts programs. Our partnerships help us to build strong relationships with local youth, support artistic networks and mentor young regional artists to extend the creative capital of a region.
