The disadvantage i see in going diesel would be not being able to control the timing. I dont know if they control the fuels timing some how or the cam takes care of that but it doesnt seen ideal to me. yet im not expert

@bkwjrejlegfjligfergf Wait, let my rephrase that. The TRUE term for an engine requires that the powerplant runs on combustion. A motor runs off of another sourse of energy, say electricity.

Yup, folks have been "twin-charging" for years. There was even a VW in Europe in the recent years that was both supercharged and turboed. It was a 1.4 liter, got almost 200 hp and got great MPG. The turbo provides the mid and top end while the blower huffs it out of the hole. A great combo.
