This has happened too frequently and is actually rather irritating to my taste.

He's got a characteristic singing tone and secure finger techqnue as you would expect from a Russian pianist. What really surprises me is that he seems incapable of playing the right-hand note from the melody line and the left hand base note at the same time on the first beat when indicated by the score: what he would do is right-hand would sound first, followed by the base note a fraction of a second later (poor pianists usually do it the other way round) (cont'd)
