Chrono Trigger - Frog Solo Part I: Yakra

Always wanted to do a solo challenge in this game. I always liked Frog, so I picked him.

Yakra is the first boss Frog has to fight, and after him there's a huge stall point before Frog rejoins for the rest of the game. When Frog is gone, I'll just play a normal low level game, which I've done before so it shouldn't be too problematic.

I didn't level up before fighting this boss and didn't even learn any new techniques, in order to make it harder. Frog's level 5 (which is the level he joins you at) and he doesn't level up after the battle either. I gave him the best equipment I found in the castle and used my Power Tabs on him (the others won't really need them).

To make things more fun, I set the battle mode to Active and the speed to 1 (out of 8, fastest battle speed). It did help.

The boss does have a few strong attacks and fighting him was a good finger practice. Just attack and heal when your HP gets below 60-70.




There were some really close moments when Frog was a second away from dying and I used a Tonic just in time. Tonics are slightly more effective than his Slurp tech and I can afford them just fine with the Gil from the Shelter farming method (I have a vid showing what that is).

Yeah, this is the last boss in a while and an LLG essentially begins here. I won't be recording the non-Frog battles, of course, those vids are already on YouTube.

I don't really get commented as much as you think I am and you probably just happen to comment when I'm online. It's different when I return after being away for a week, then I can hardly handle responding to everything that I should respond to.

hey is this the ps1 version or the SNES version just checking cos it looks a it smoother then SNES or its the encoder...did u use SNES9xw recorder or something else if so plz tell what u had the setting as

It's snes9x and I didn't really change any of the settings.

so that means u have it as full frames (Uncompressed)?

No, I don't. When I record, I select a different compression, can't remember which. It's the only compression that doesn't mess up the recording horribly that I can choose.

Also, good quality on this one. It seems the source video (whatever you used to record this) was good. That or FFTA's heavier animation is harder to encode for.
