@ohmyclumsyheart Try it. If you can't get professionals to fix it then you have nothing to lose. I did it with my iPod several times and it still works like new (the cover is scratched up quite a bit, but I have a cover for it so I don't really mind). Trust me, the only way to break your iPod by opening it is if you're using a hammer...
