SUMMARY
The LG D2342P display has a sweet spot, the horizontal view angle is pretty wide, but the vertical one is very narrow, you have to be at the right height otherwise you get crosstalk.

TRANSCRIPTION:
LG D2342P Indian Head (side by side) test (card) pattern.
(Put your 3D) Glasses (on now) ... Not 3D at the moment.
- Go down to the (3D) Mode (on the Monitor Setup Menu) ...
- Set it to: Side By Side
- Go back to about a meter away
- and see the right eye sees the Indian
- and the left eye should see the black half of the screen

So if you go too high, you can see you don't see the black half of the screen (AKA crosstalk / ghosting ).
If you go too low (then) you don't see the black half of the screen.

So if you go in close, closer than 50 cm, you see it gets hard to fit the whole of the black in (the sweetspot).

If you go 2 meters away, and similarly it's hard to get the whole of the screen in the sweetspot.

Ta-da! (Q.E.D.)

  • Does it require a videocard that supports HDMI 1.4?

  • @Bergen79 As I understand it a videocard that supports HDMI 1.4 would only be required if you want to watch 3D Blu-Ray movies on your computer. An HDMI connection is best (e.g. HDMI 1.2/1/3) as most 3D settings (like selecting SIDE BY SIDE) are enabled only for HDMI VIDEO TIMING (so initially I got a DVI-HDMI cable, before getting a graphics card with HDMI 1.4 output).

  • do you see ghosting with this screen ? i mean its clearly that some little light pass from the (what supposed to be) the blackout lens, right?

  • @d7me Yes there is some ghosting/crosstalk, but I only really notice it on the credits of films where I sometimes see a halo around the lettters. It is not usually a problem watching the rest of a 3D film.

  • does this have an inbuilt speakers?

  • @suzals It doesn't have built in speakers. It has an earphone socket e.g. for sound taken from HDMI input.

  • @F4H33M97

here is a better answer, NO you do not need Nvidia vision as that uses active shutter 3D and this monitor broadcast polarized rays that the passive glasses receive to make an image appear 3D, (cinema 3D) and yes i use it on my ps3

  • @pwND001

No because It's a monitor using polarisation, where the separation between the right and left image is not in the time but in the space: Odd lines for one eye, even lines for the other.

  • @F4H33M97 As I understand it, F4H33M97 , Tridef 3D is provided for PC games (google: TriDef 3D Ignition - Supported Games. Any other broadcast, game, and movie platforms are OK if they can output a HDMI 1.4a 3D format video signal frame packing 3D format at either 720p50 and 1080p24 or 720p60 and 1080p24, side-by-side horizontal at either 1080i50 or 1080i60, and top-and-bottom at either 720p50 and 1080p24 or 720p60 and 1080p24.

  • Do u need nvidia vision? And can u use this with a ps3?
