@DrOktobermensch That was a Bateman-like review. Impressive. Very nice.

I have to return some videotapes.

When he crosses out the dead girl drawing and ditches Evelyn is he trying to give up murdering and yuppie culture? (I haven't seen the film.)

@DrOktobermensch I finally get that line after writing an essay about Bateman and "negative emotional energy". Thank you so much...

@DrOktobermensch Not neccessarily. He may simply fear the consequences and retribution. Being normal is very important to him, but the lifestyle doesn't fit him, so he looks for meaning where he doesn't really find one.
That's the thing with women, they allways try to make a damn scene.

"I'm in touch with humanity."
If you think about it, that is one of the most meaningful lines in the movie. Unlike these emotionless yuppies, Bateman tries to look for some form of emotion or release. The very fact that he himself understands that and sees his behaviour as wrong ("My need to engage in homicidal behaviour on a massive scale cannot be corrected, but I have no other way to fulfill my needs") means that Bateman cares about emotions and meaning, and he tries to obtain them.
