Michael Jackson Comeback: Is it for real?
Michael Jackson is certainly not History. Hey guys, Im Dana Ward for Clevver TV with all of the info about M-Js comeback tour.
It seems the King of Pop is back in action, recently announcing 35 more shows to the already-existent 10-gig London concert roster. Hes scheduled to hit the UK-circuit in July and the AEG-Live promoted show will span into 2010. This is exciting news for Jackson fans, as he hasnt staged a concert tour since 1997. This show more than a decade later is being called This Is It.
And finding success this round is no small task. Michael chose to hit-up Londons giant O2 Arena, rocking a cool 20-thousand-plus in capacity. Some industry experts have spoken out that M-J should have picked a smaller venue in order to ensure sold-out shows. That being said, concerts at the stadium usually fit about 18-thousand-people and reports have already been released that online-pre-sale tickets was a massive success. In fact, michaeljacksonLIVE.com had such a great response, that it led to significant online delays. Plus, a director at Ticketmaster UK said the company received an unprecedented level of demand for the O2 Jackson comeback tour.
To get audiences in the mood for classic Jackson, the superstar reportedly purchased an entire 3 and a half minute commercial break during a hot UK show, in order to advertise the comeback tour. Showing clips from previous old-school performances, M-J apparently wants to get Europeans to start purchasing the 60-dollar to 100-plus dollar tickets, that went on sale officially March 13th.
The 13-time Grammy winner is hoping this tour will be quite bankable, as hes reportedly been struggling financially in recent times. Hes made an effort by going to court to stop an auction of about 2,000 personal items, including his famous rhinestoned glove selling for 10 to 15 grand. And just a few years ago, Michael got acquitted of several charges, including child molestation, in a California trial. That, along with relatively strange public behavior and masked wardrobes, has clearly damaged his reputation. But Michael is staying strong and now hes saying, that was History and This is it.
What do you think about this M-J comeback tour? Are ya thinking about hitting up London in order to see the King of Pop in action? And what songs need to be included on the concert lineup? Let us know what youre thinking by leaving a comment below.
