Hey, thanks for the interest. Unfortunately, I am just the cameraman, now home in the US and Dougie is still in Scotland. He's now the head stalker, after his father (also Dougie, elder is "Duh-gee," younger is "Doo-gee." I normally hunt white tail, but if I could ever learn to gut this fast I would be making a fortune off how-to dvds. Not sure if it's in the video, but the best part is when Dougie uses a clump of moss to wash his hands.

Apologies for mislabeling the video, my American ears weren't able to pick up the actual form of the word "gralloch," and when I uploaded "garroting" is what came to mind. It was a 1-shot kill. I'm an avid white-tail hunter and I must say this was the fastest and cleanest gralloch I've ever seen. To Saintbarbara, yes the deer did fine before human intervention, but that took place over a hundred years ago; natural predators are gone, without management the herd would deteriorate.

Look you silly little tart if he didn't gut/gralloch it then the meat would get tainted and then wasted which is worse kill and waste or kill and feast???

P.s I'm having badger soup with fox testicle croutons all served in a kangaroo skull for dinner, and I'm off to club baby seals to death for no other reason apart from fun.

@MartinezFamilyRevue Thanks for the quick reply. Dougie certainly looks competent and the way he drags the deer off he makes it look easy. :) Thanks again for posting the video.

No moss where I hunt so I put my plastic water bottle between my knees, crack it partway open and use it to wash up. Water only comes out when you squeeze.

Interesting video, thank you for the post. Question for Dougie: did you cut the trachea, ring the anus and/or cut the diaphragm? I have never cleaned a whitetail but have a fair amount of experience cleaning axis deer. If I was to merely slit the belly there is no way I could pull out the entrails by hand as you seemed to do. I did notice the stomach seemed to tear (not a likely thing with an axis), perhaps the innards are softer on the whitetails?
