This isn't 'Contemporary Jazz". This is hard bop '60s and '70s style. Contemporary jazz has no true elements of jazz. Listen to your local contemporary jazz radio station and you will find it lacking both swing and improvisation, the two facets that define jazz.
Aside from all that, this is an excellent performance! Great drumming!

Only the very best drummers can be busy all the time and not be annoying.
Froman is one such top drummer.

Relaxed technique like that is so rare . . . Only people like Carl Allen rival Ian. I would definitely buy a DVD if he made one!
