**these animals are not pets**

These baby corvids came from a nest that was in a very dangerous place and needed to be removed. The nest wasn't able to be saved and so I was called to take in and care for the young. They are all beginning to get their pin feathers (the oldest more so, of course). They are eating very well, sleeping soundly, maintaining a good body temperature and producing well formed and regular droppings. All great signs! Their eyes are all now open but just barely for the younger two. They will not be kept as pets (of course) but will be released after they have shown well practiced scavenging capabilities.

They are quarentined in an area with a baby monitor (I carry with me the handset portion of the baby monitor so I can hear if/when they need anything). They are being fed a commercial avian meal that is rehydrated with water to 107 degrees and fed with a 35 CC syringe approximately every 2 hours. Their diet is being augmented with various raw proteins, veggies, fruit and grain that are pureed and given via syringe.

Humidity is kept above 40%, temperature is kept between 73-75 degrees during the day and 75-77 degrees in the evening. Carefresh is the brand of bedding, it is clean, nice for them to snuggle with and easy to remove when soiled.

  • How did you manage to get them that young ? I mean, how high was the nest ? Crows nests always very high O_O

  • @Elestar60 They were actually in a jump tower (at a military facility..a jump tower is where soldiers learn the preliminaries of sky diving). So yes..very high...but the nest was in the open jump tower and it needed to be removed so the military peeps could use it.
