What a historic performance! Fantastic!

I had a baby boy August, 1987 and named him Fraser in celebration of this monumental win at the Worlds. He will be 23 this August and plays the pipes, his name is Fraser Duncan Gibson after his grandfather and uncle (Duncan Gibson).

Great post. THANK YOU!

First year at the worlds as a young 14 year old and these guys just blew me away. Fantastic to see this 23 years later. This band revolutionised pipe bands way of structuring medleys forever

"Up to the Line" is played by a band at the World's in 1986. It's on the 1986 WPB Champ's album. So how could the tune have been composed "on the way home from the Montreal games the year before" (which would have been 1986, roughly the second week of August, a week before the 1986 World's)? Did Bruce fax the tune to the Annan Ex-Service Club Pipe Band so that the band could learn it and play it for their medley march-on a few days later at the World's? Freaking amazing.
