I sing a cover of "The Lady Is A Tramp" - a show tune from the 1937 Rodgers and Hart musical "Babes In Arms" - with the help of Florence Ballard and Mary Wilson of The Supremes - lol.

This song is a sophisticated and witty spoof of New York high society and its strict etiquette (the first line of the verse is significant: "I get too hungry for dinner at eight..."). It has become a classic song in the pop standards/vocal genre.

I actually filtered Dianas lead vocals off of The Supremes version to just leave the instrumentation and backing and then recorded over it - tehehe.

  • This is a brilliant version of a classic song! You really sing the heck out of it! Great stuff, Bravo! A terrific song gets better the more people who sing it because each version adds to the soul of the tune, in my opinion.

  • @ethanembry78 Thanks! =D =D I thought I'd make it a lil' more jazzy...you can thank Miss Fitzgerald for this one =P

  • Jon, I love the vibrato in your voice!!! You tore this s*** up!!!

  • @1990soulman Thankss =D I must post a Bille cover soon as I adore her, I like Nina too =D oo and Sarah Vaughan! I filtered Diana's lead vocals from The Supremes' version of the song from their 1967 album The Supremes Sing Rodgers & Hart - hence why I put Jonathan Gardner & The Supremes as the title (because Flo and Mary's backing remains at the end =D) lol. Thanks again =)

  • your voice reminds me of a male version of Billie Holiday and Nina Simone you should try some songs from them....and where the hell did you get the instrumental from lol....you have a good taste in music I love the supremes
