  • If you read 10 deg. port drift then you turn the inner scale 10 deg. left (anticlockwise) to line up with the 10 deg. port mark on the outer scale. You then see where the wind cross has gone. If it is now over 8 deg. port drift you then move the inner scale to the 8 deg. port mark. Let's say the wind cross has moved over 9 deg. port drift. Move the inner scale to 9 deg. port. Let's say the wind cross has barely moved and is still over 9 degrees port drift then you are now drift balanced.

  • Hi there, I wonder if you could help. When balancing the drift do you always alter in the same direction as the initial drift. i.e. if you get say 10 degree port drift and when you alter the wheel you get 2 degrees movement but towards starboard would you move the wheel back to starboard or move it 2 degrees to port to achieve balance?

  • instead of maring the wind downwards from the centre dot, mark it upwards! then put the marking on a TAS of 180 and immeadiatly read the groundspeed 142 on the centre dot.

In fact you can say: - if track is given, mark the wind upwards - if heading is given mark the wind downwards

  • Hello Sir, could i please have some information on the costs of your JAA ATPL?
