Godzilla. The 1992 Tooheys Bathurst 1000 Winner and 1992 Australian Touring Car Championship Winner, The R32 Skyline GT-R.

The Winfield Number #1 GT-R piloted by Mark Skaife and Jim Richards was the winner at Mount Panorama for a 2nd year in a row.
The Winfield GT-R won the 1992 Australian Touring Car Championship.

Driver Championships were also won by Skaife 1st and Richards in 2nd, Longhurst was 3rd with the BMW M3 Evolution in the final Drivers Championship Standings in 1992.

Australian Motorsport was changed forever after this event and proceeded with an amalgamation of today's V8 SUPERCARS. This also meant the removal and abolishment of turbo charged engines in the top tier of Australian Motorsport and only 2 car Manufacturers that compete for the title.

In this video the car is the GIO Racing GT-R with Mark Gibbs driving on the day along with Rohan Onslow, they finished 6th at Mount Panorama.

The eventual championship drivers were Mark Skaife and Jim Richards in the Winfield GT-R.

  • what engine did that have

  • @carholden1 RB26DETT with restrictions on the amount of boost (not sure on how many PSI)

  • thanks for posting this....this is the clip that pushed me over the edge!!!!.....got me in big trouble with the wife as I now own and race the GIO car in Group A historics :)

  • @Jetwreck mate you are one lucky bastard, put up some video footage of it, I'd love to hear that old Group A GTR roar...even when they restricted the boost it still sounded amazing!

God damn you must of handed over some serious coin to own an ex-Group A Car ecspecially a GTR considering how dominant they were, well done mate.

Do you also own the Peter Jackson R31 as well?

  • @327aussie It's pretty comical. You idiots actually think you can "win."

You really need to work on "not getting trolled."

  • @AYEJAY666 is obsessed with me for some reason. Not sure why. I'm pretty sure he's somewhat retarded or has brain damage or something as you can probably tell

  • Damn, what a weapon. How much negative camber were they running up front? Looks like -6 / -7 degrees or so... tyres can't have lasted long :)

  • @ubermensch1231 Remember what race you are untermensch.

The habibline is seen as a tacky renault, with coped technology.

  • @FGalaxie commodore's have no relevance outside Australia. Meanwhile the "gookline" is compared to the likes of supercars. Nice one there ya dog cunt. Now go back inside your caravan.

  • The Japanese were really ahead of their time when they were making cars and even today they still are, don't get me wrong the V8 supercars are great I own a ford falcon and honda civic but the Japanese had some serious R&D department going on when they were making these sports cars most austalian and america cars could not keep up with jap cars on most circuits through out the world.

Japanese motorsports have also become increasingly popular over the last 2 decades in the western world.

  • Badass car ...
