1) Discussion of FEMA mapping. [Response from FEMA on non-mandatory participation in National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) prior to effective date of Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM) and purchase of flood insurance at Preferred Risk rates was discussed. City Administrator Schlabaugh distributed an information packet.]
Report by City Administrator: [ Planning and Zoning documents noted; problem with vehicles parking on streets during snow storm - 8 ticketed by Sheriff; $242K state DOT grant for Kalona-Richmond trail awarded; $157K state DOT grant for Safe Routes to School awarded.]
New Business:
1) Subdivision Application for Bill Young and Chad Mellinger in regards to Stables Subdivision [for 7 lots, single family -- moved on to Planning and Zoning]
2) Discussion of naming the West Ditch ["Salversen Creek" approved - rights purchased on eBay for $3,750]
3) Approval of Resolution designating official publication, committee membership and appointing certain city officers.
4) Approval of Resolution making appointments and confirming appointments of the Mayor of Kalona. [brief discussion on need to meet State requirements for gender-equity on committees, etc.]
