@jlbang24 I have the same exact mic and a pop filter always helps for vocals. But don't waste $20 on buying one. You can make a decent one for free and it will work just as well.

you should be able to select the snowball as your recording device in control panel > sounds and audio > audio > sounds> recording devices. You have to plug in the mic first.

nice guitar, silverchair rocks...btw, i have a snowball, but every time i want to record i have to restore my laptop to it's factory settings..(windows7) any advice?

The first position is the best for recording anything in front of you basically. Position one is regular cardioid (Records only things in front of you) the second position is also a cardioid, but it basically makes it quieter, suppose you'd use it if the stuff you were recording was too loud and you couldn't stop the audio from clipping. The third position is omnidirectional (it will record in all directions) But you will also get the reverb from the room then.
