Second video about Azrienoch's book The Perpetual Wound about his treatment of Language.

I give here the greatest broadest lines of thought that Azrienoch uses to approach this subject, but language is a hard subject to talk against. One must use strategy so that the idea avoid language, Azrienoch used impression: he takes several examples and repeats them in various angles so that we can feel what he means.

For this reason, it is hard to summarise.

I did not adress here the subject of _private_ language, because it concerns more Azrienoch's philosophy of the mind than his philosophy of language and is therefore only indirectly related. I will talk about it in a further video.

  • it is a pleasure to remember you of your old writtings!

"some themes that, in the context of their time, I think are wrong,"

Are you talking about claims that make lot of sense but that you explained poorly? I've had this impression sometimes.

Anyway, I'm happy to know you'll follow the series.

  • I'd completely forgotten about that section, "The world is incoherent. Language is coherent. Therefore, language does not reflect the world." It's the basis for the whole idea of language being what metaphysics is made of, and that metaphysics being what we think of as the world. I really like that. I'd forgotten how much. Thank you.

  • Man, you're doing an excellent job. Some of these thoughts are almost agreeable coming from you! You've picked up on some themes that, in the context of their time, I think are wrong, but in the context of what I've been working on more recently, make a lot of sense.
