Psychiatrist Hyla Cass says most psychiatrists simply label patients mentally ill based solely on symptoms and put them on dangerous and addictive drugs, instead of doing complete physical examinations to find and treat underlying medical conditions which can manifest as psychiatric symptoms. There are numerous non-harmful medical solutions that patients are not being offered. She also discusses the severe withdrawal effects of psychiatric drugs and what patients need to know about safely getting off of these drugs under a doctor's supervision.

  • Great video, CCHR. I have a friend who went on Zoloft recently, who I'm desperately trying to convince her to seek non-drug options. I'll share this video with her, and hope that she considers this alternative.

  • Thanks!

  • She sure has a point. I was on an anti psychotic for a year, before that i was doing ok but i did complain about bouts of anxiety and the odd episode of psychosis and of course mood swings that i thought to be bipolar but the symptoms were different. my biggest mistake was going to a psychiatrist. the antipsychotic i was on destroyed my ability to think clearly and pretty much took my ability away to socialize normally. now i suffer a withdrawal and i feel worse then ever. but i keepitcontrolled

  • part 2

I can try again when I am homeless and ready to do whatever is needed(be medicated) to get help. Reminds me of human trafficking. The "advocates" if there really are any ignore me.

I don't think patients with bone, nerve and muscle impairments should have to take mental health meds, but I am told I need mental medication to prove my case. My condition has no treatment so I'm told I got to be treated for something.

I bet my comments will be deleted. Feel welcome to surprise me.

  • I showed up for a social security court hearing without a lawyer and at the last minute postponed my hearing because I have no idea how to represent myself. Is there a list anywhere of lawyers who accept SSI cases who will not bully me into mental health medication? Any list of doctors who are willing to fill out paperwork for SSI applicants who refuse mental health medication?

There seem to be no advocates for Americans without medical insurance. I guess I will be dropping my SSI case.

  • Living proof-I took my sister off the anti-psychotics, and replaced them with herbal formulas, for her mind and energy levels, at the same time I began the tapering-off the meds. And vitamins and minerals for detox. It's been over a month, now, and she is improving every day! No re-relapses. Check out : jung circle/schiznatutal

  • Over here in England our doctors don,t perscribe drugs straight away, they look for alternatives such as therapy. Our health care is much better than america. Mainly because there isn,t any health care in America.

  • so the antipsychotics and antidepressants dont make you retarded, maybe at the time of being on them, later you refresh your to it's natural state. How i'm glad if that's the way it is, if i'm wrong please correct me

  • @llyonya there are two main reasons fear of disapproval and misleading information from those who dont want you to question the status qou ..

  • Big farma tells you only half of the story and hides a lot of facts about their medications. However, hidden by big farmar facts are available in the internet. Why people do not care to find the truth???

  • Wow, this woman is amazing!

  • She's so right.

SSRIs are damaging and now Big Pharma is pushing them on public school children.
