@DJWINK303 Busses are also for routing parallel signals through the 'send', if you don't use a buss you won't have a mult. output which is the essense of parallel compression, or any effect (say reverb) where you want to preserve the original dynamics of your sound.
Busses are for putting multiple tracks to a new aux channel. So you could have say two kick drums routed to the same channel and add effects to both. you didn't need the bus for that.
kinda agree with you on this... why need to assign it to a bus? maybe he has his own explanation for it, I'd like to know too as I'm still learning and experimenting audio engineering. :)
Why not just use the compressor as an insert then click on the little triangle and set the wet/dry mix? It's exactly the same thing w/o the need for a bus.
