Wow, just when you think you're the only person who grew up with this album...I knew this by heart before "Schoolhouse Rock" hit it big! Hope you do post more of it. Love "El Camino Real" & the Johnny Appleseed song!

A very_ different take on Casey Jones. The melody was also used for "Sunday Barbecue," and the theme song to the Charlie McCarthy radio show. Either way, western or Southern, Casey Jones couldn't drive a train if his life depended on it! lol! what is it that makes it easy to write singable songs about death--be it train wrecks, car wrecks, war, murder, etc?

I LOVE THIS ALBUM! I must have listened to it a thousand times when I was a kid... sitting in front of the stereo console. I didn't know what "folk music" was, but the songs were fantastic, vivid stories about characters I new growing up with an undeniable and captivating energy. I'm now 47 and just today purchased the CD of Land of Giants. Now, MY 5-year-old is learning about Johnny Appleseed in kindergarten. I was excited to take this album to his teacher to play "Appleseed John." Memories!

I like the minstrels better then any of the great folk bands of the 60's
Love the song and the New Christy Minstrels. Thank you so much for posting this great album. Just for historical record though, I must mention that Casey wasn't driving No. 638 ( his favorite engine ) the night he died. He was driving No. 382. Doesn't change the fact that this is a great song and one of my favorite groups from my youth. Thanks again for posting.

Thanks! I have been singing and sharing these songs with my kids for years, but never could find the LPs, to share the real songs, until now. WHAT WONDERFUL memories for me and now my kids. I hope when they are our age, they remember these songs with smiles too. Thanks so much for sharing!!
