I saw that Rosenkavalier she did at Spoleto and was thunderstruck but the performance. Does anyone have an audio excerpt of her Kundry. I understand she did Schoenberg's Erwartung as well.

A round, sensual sound, coming from a very passionate singing actress: exactly what Strauss wanted in his roles.
Closer to Jeritza and Lehmann's passion and vocal seduction than Schwarzkopf, that's for sure. Thanks for sharing.

Even though shes def past her prime i bet her kundry really was ravishing. it msut be wonderful to hear such smoothness and bel canto technique in a wagnerian opera.

if she were out of her "element" she would be singing hip hop you fag
My jaw dropped when i found this - Scotto as the Marschallin! Remarkable, for a singer with a career like hers, to face the job of tackling this text. Very well done, very personal, and it's funny to hear it sung with that italian vocalitá

She was HARDLY out of her element. Anyone who knows about this great artist knows about her "third" career in German, including her stunning Kundry. Her Kundry was praised by the German press as well. One major critic suggested she sing it at Bayreuth. Her soft singing here is ravishing. What is there NOT to like? Like her or hate her, she had a GREAT success in this even at the Spoleto Festival USA in 1995. Google the reviews.
