I guess I might not necessarily say C86 in general, but I think some of their songs sound as if they came from the first couple of MBV EPs (long before they completely overhauled their sound)--but again, this isn't a complaint at all in my book.....
-
not so much c86 for me but american bands of around the 90s...I cant think of examples though. Like Smashing Pumpkins Today.
-
Don't get me wrong--I love this band and the C86 sound, but I'm not sure that aping an earlier sound (albeit brilliantly) makes for fresh music....Re the Strokes comment: I don't usually hear it with POBPAH, but if you remove the keyboards from this song, it does sound very reminiscent of Someday"; same beat, at any rate, with some similar guitar....

They sound like they are influenced by the C86 sound - that's brilliant. Time for fresh music again!

I think he is inside the keyboard

the strokes? naaah. kinda but then again not really..
-
Sound like The Strokes...don't really get that ...more like The Pastels, very early My Bloody Valentine,Shop Assistants,Wedding Present,Soup Dragons.....Brilliant none the less...

Watch the Pains of Being Pure at Heart live in NYC on my profile!
I enjoyed this. Very catchy. I do wish I could catch more of the lyrics (I think).
