Conversations host Harry Kreisler welcomes Nathaniel Fick for a discussion of his best selling book One Bullet Away: The Making of a Marine Officer. Drawing on his wartime experiences in Afghanistan and Iraq, Fick reflects on the nature of war and the role of the marines in post 911 conflicts. He focuses on military training and leadership with special attention to reconciling tactical and strategic imperatives, ethical issues in counterinsurgency missions, and deployment of military force as a complement to the full utilization of all aspects of American power.

@alovelytime I'm amazed. What a genius remark. I've come to the conclusion that you're legitimately retarded. No go away you clown.

@alovelytime Very good response, it appears you have the intellectual capacity of a sack of horseshit. I'm done with you until you can talk and think like a grown up.

@alovelytime How dare you chalk up peoples sacrifices to"looting and killing" for the elite, you fucking coward. Its because of people like yourself that nations fail. You are the bottom 1% who run their mouths but do nothing to change things. Thats a fact. If you respond, respond with something original, dont spit some bullshit liberal rhetoric, it gets old. If you do, I'll just chalk it up to you lacking the mental capacity to form an original argument of your own.

@alovelytime I would take the average Iraq or Afghan as my fellow countrymen over someone like you anyday, they are better human beings then you could ever hope to be. You're the worst kind of coward; one who runs their mouth constantly, spits out ignorant soundbites, has little to no original thought, and just generally floats through life accomplishing nothing significant.

@alovelytime But of course its easier to be willfully ingnorant from the safety of your home, its more convenient, and you don't have to sacrifice anything. I also wont go the old "they're dying for your freedom route" because frankly, you're not worth the life of any member of the miltary. They are better human beings then you. Its about the guy to the left and the right of them, and the people in Iraq and Afghansitan who've know nothing but poverty and oppression.

@alovelytime and that main part of the COIN strategy is protecting the local populace and embracing them to the point where they will trust us. Until you've walked a patrol in places like Marjah in Afghanistan, or Fallujah, Iraq; and actually interacted with the locals to see how they feel about our presence and our efforts to stimulate their local economies and build their schools/businesses, then you should respectfully shut the fuck up.

@alovelytime On top of this, we have the moral leadership and sensibilities to know that killing innocents is not the right thing to do. The key word here is morals, this is what seperates us from Al Qadea. We dont use innocents as shields, or strap ourselves with bombs sending them into crowded streets. You just spit your retarded rhetoric, but its obvious you lack the intelligence to be able to comprehend that fighting an insurgency is very complex,

@alovelytime You have no clue what you are talking about. Until you've have undergone military training, or have been intimately associated with it in some manner, you should refrain from making generalizations on what military training entails. Killing innocent women and children? You're out of your mind. Innocents do not die at our hands like you think they do. The current ROE ensures that the military is mindful of fighting in heavily populated areas.
