Doors of Separation

Intro Notes:

Well this is my entry for the final round of the Ishtora contest. Yeah, I have no idea how I got this far, but it's pretty cool to be competing against some awesome editors. This round was to make a video game crossover tragedy. Hopefully I did it right. I really didn't want to have anyone die because..well...dying is used a lot? xD Like with my other entries, I used Valkyrie Profile. The other was Kingdom Hearts. The characters? Why Alicia and Riku of course. Don't ask. I don't like the couple myself. It was just easy with the clips I had and the fact they had useable lines. AND I didn't realize it until after I uploaded that I misspelled separation. Just...ignore it xD

Story:

*Written in Alicia's point of view

The sky was filled with stars that night. There were many more than any other night I could remember. It...was strange. I remember thinking they were alive. And before I knew, they had surrounded me. Instantly I found myself in a strange but beautiful place. All I could see was the ocean and the sunset. I was reminded of Dipan when I looked at that sky, but I knew I was no where near my home. I stood there for a long time until someone came up to me. He spoke to me and seemed friendly enough. We had even talked all night. However, when the sun came up I had found myself back on that field where I had encountered the stars. I made it an effort to try again and again until I made it back to that place. To see him again. Besides Silmeria, I felt I had gained a true friend, even if it was somehow all imaginary. No one would believe living stars and other worlds that existed beyond the three of my world, right?

I had met him several times, and we had many conversations. One meeting though, which was actually our last, he was acting odd. He hadn't said much to me at all. He just silently looked up at the sky. I had asked him what was bothering him, but no expectation of mine could have told me his answer. I was told to look where we are. I already had of course, but where we were was not what brought me back during the nights. Did he not understand? Something about becoming darkness was mentioned after my reply. Needless to say, I could not comprehend what he was getting at. There was no time to though, as the sun was coming up. It was almost time for me to go again. Still, he had reached out his hand for me to take. I could not simply refuse, but I was uncomfortable, and scared, of what he meant. I trusted him anyway.

A door of bright light had appeared. I was too scared to go through and tried to talk him out of going through himself. It did not end the way I had wanted. I watched him go through it. However, as I could feel myself being transported back to my own world, I knew I couldn't allow things to end as they were. I ran through the door after him only to come across another door. This one was also of light and I easily found myself running through it. The next one though was surrounded by blackness. I was scared to get near it but I didn't care. I kept trying to reach it. It was closing. I felt my heart pounding. He was beyond that door. I knew he was. And yet, I failed to get there in time. I watched as the door closed and disappeared, separating us forever. Him in the darkness beyond the door that vanished, and me.... well I suppose I will no longer exist soon enough. There was no sun to take me home or living stars. All I am left with is nothing but my feelings. And soon, those too will disappear.
