The problem is that authoritarian religious culture attracts psychopathic types--people who crave power and exercise it over the vulnerable. Thank God that the church doesn't command the kind of blind respect anymore in society as it once did. Those priests who are bad people by nature thrived on that unquestionable respect. Worse still, the fear they cultivated was the biggest insult to Christ that anyone could have thought up. Shame on them all.

@ScourgeofInfidels These schools were set up in the 19th Century, while the British still occupied the whole country. So, the guilt lies with British, Irish and Catholic hierarchies. Your ignorance is not surprising, but something you should work on, unless you can't learn on your own.
