hey brother you should play with your e.q with another state of mind= MUSIC.....
dont preset your eq like todays pieces of junk.....use your middrange more than the rest evrything is there ....after you put a fence with the high ends and a bit of bass or whatever .....
have fun you got a great unit ....i own the same but in 2122-c (3 version around 53-56...) yours around 51-53 ...you can also put a 5u4 as rectifier with 2x 6l6's ...dont be affraid
have fun

hahaha TOTAL NOOB with Electronic and Radio HAHA. MAN come on an mp3 is such a CUT quality music format. There is so much humming coming out of the preamp tubes . And the input impedance is too much and driver the preamp tube to overdrive and distorts the sound . AND YOU CALL THAT HIGH FIDELITY OMGGGGG TOTAL NOOB.

lol a mp3 as input defice fail
-
Bit of hum there and its distorted
-
always with me always with you. thats is one of my favorite songs
-
mp3 is no nice and clear!

Cool!
Your input impedence should be line level. You have a speaker output level coming out of the mp3. It is overdriving the first tube preamp.
