an original I wrote in 1990 during my "minstrel period" (LOL), when I was a minstrel at the Arizona and Georgia Renaissance Festivals. I wanted to write something along the lines of early English folk music and this was the result, I think I was inspired by the tune John Reilly at the time.
Dedicated to Abigail Sharp (Zoot) and Brandy Bruce, my dear friends at the AZ Renfest.
Sailor Boy
Oh, my love doth be gone
Ev'ry hour lingers on
Far away he sails today
As I await and humbly pray
For him to safely return
Then no more shall I yearn
Lord, make gentle the sea
Return my love unto me
Let no harm come unto him
I pray his love shall not grow dim
As faithfully do I wait
To hear him enter the gate
The ocean waves rise and fall
The ship is tossed in a squall
Bravely doth my sailor fight
To save his ship throughout the night
Until at last comes the dawn
And once again, all is calm

An excellent composition.I love folk music and the simpleness of the words and meaning.I enjoy songs and stories of the sea, because I was a sailor. Thanks for sending it to me.I'm glad you like the song I posted.
