@oskoret, well, the first disc, welcome to hell is BM, but i agree thath in the rest it is confusing, it have a lot of thrash old school, but I prefer Venom's Bm, Hellhamer's Bm and Mercyfull fate's BM to minimalist BM, and the first of BM were influided from Trhash, and the frst wave of Thrash have the same proble with BM

Venom gave BM it's name and imagery, but about the music itself... "Welcome to Hell" is NWOBHM + Speed Metal - but thats just me. \,,/

Norwegian black metal isnt minimalistic! Bands like Mayhem, Darkthrone and Burzum defined the black metal style. Minimalistic black metal bands are, for example, Paysage d'Hiver or Hate Forest

so you would NOT call hellhammers music minimalistic? or venoms music? lol. Messiah for example is riff made out of 2 of the easiest chords ever. i mean, i love hellhammer and venom, but its kind of weird to call them BM because they were more complex than music like...dunno darkthrone or such

Everybody can hate me for this but whether you guys like it or not, this is Venom style of Black Metal. Black Metal don't originate from thrash like what WIKIPEDIA SAYS. All you have to Do is Listen to Motorhead Speed NWOBHM, 80's Hardcore like G.B.H. Discharge, Amebix, G.I.S.M, Disclose, The Varukers Anti Cimix etc... Thrash Metal and Death Metal have different Rythms and add more technique into it. Thrash is influenced by hardcore but not the same type of 80's Hardcore.

@Sipho44 Black Metal was an official genre back then dude. Possessed were often called Black Metal. And who cares what todays standard say. There isn't a single Thrash pace in this song. Not everybody go by todays standard of Metal
