A citizen activist who frequents the Barstow City Council meetings rose during the July 16, 2007 Council meeting to challenge the City Council to acknowledge the Mayor's failed Indian Casino Strategy and consider resignations when the yet again extended Sacramento deadlines come and go on September 15 without much needed legislative approvals.

  • The people of Barstow have been duped by BarWest and their influence buying. Those compacts were never EVEN a long shot. This city is run by corruption and I am the most vocal out of a very small group that are trying to expose it. Things won't change until people care enough to get involved.

  • What absolutely amazes me is that the people of Barstow sat back this long when sign after sign pointed towards the fact that the Casino's in Barstow were an extreme long shot at best. The people need to get together and get the city council to move on. I wonder if all this Casino drama is going to effect future re-elections.

  • NOBODY was able to take me up on this challenge because even the authors of the Bill did not believe it would fly. Now eight days before the compact was due to expire, Senator Wiggins has pulled the Bill and it is as Dead as is the future of the political future of these Barstow Council Members. Only the corruption lives on.
