  • The 229s' would be equally effective against B-17s' if there were P-51s' escorting ?

  • @bompiberlot Surely not. But who ordered the B17 pilots fly without an escort?

It was not me! (; ) Abraços

  • @montjcm I mean P-51 is a good plane but could not manage agaist me 262 or 229, the germans just did not have enough those planes (they did not have enough aluminium to build these and other resources)

  • @jvierinen Exactly! Thank you. Please , watch v=umIGbWIAOzs. Abraços

  • engine overheat! :-D

  • @Siddich ,My il2 version has this bug(freeze) whenever I use two types of aircraft in this scenario. I think it refers to a dialogue between the B17 pilots. I've given up to solve. Abraços. :{)

  • Gotha is just badass.

  • I would love to fly a Horten Wing! But alas, stuck with a mere hang-glider!

A number of German fighters were fitted with photo sensitive devices , that enabled their cannons to fire vertically, in the shadow of an enemy bomber aircraft .

  • @bompiberlot Northrop Corporation was chosen because of their experience with flying wings, inspired by the Horten brothers' pre-war record-setting glider. Jack Northrop had been building flying wings since the N-1M in 1939. -> So just think where did the US get the idea for their current planes :) link: /watch?v=7qzKVZ8Nlt0

  • @jvierinen /watch?v=7qzKVZ8Nlt0 this plane in large number would have changed the outcome off the war and the long distance bomber they where about to build aswell by Horten

  • @bompiberlot I think so, because they did simulated "dog-fight" with a Messerschmitt Me 262, the first operational jet fighter and that the H.IX V2 outperformed the Me 262. So just wonder what would have happened if they had these done ready in time. The 229 was almost invisible on the radars they had those days. They did a test in US and said that the british airdefence would see them just 2,5min before they over the radar defence. So no time to react or anything.

  • I guess P-51's would help a little but the Go-229's move way to fast. While they're diving through the formation of bombers, the P-51's or any escort real would not have been able to do much.
