Based on the Interplay game series, soon to see it's third installment in Fallout 3!
Fallout is a special property because the story is not only about the Earth after a nuclear armageddon, specifically it's about an 1940's Earth after a cold war nightmare of mutually assured destruction put to the test. As such the music is different, the aesthetic is different from our modern sensibilities because in the world of Fallout, our century never occurred. The iconic 'Pip-Boy' mascot of the Vault Tech corporation embodies the uniqueness of the Fallout universe: plucky faux optimism amongst crumbling decay. This makes Fallout alternate between darkly hilarious, and just plain...dark, much like Bioshock with it's similar alternate past idea.
The first game would be a definite starting point for the series if it ever leapt to the big screen. There's plenty of story, characters, themes, ideas, and events that happened even in the earliest Fallout to make a good movie. It would be a HUGE mistake to run counter to cannon, make up a new story, or start the movies after the first game's story-line. For this reason I tried to keep things faithful through research of the Fallout games (fans may recognize my reference to 'Dogmeat')
The first movie would start out simply enough. A vault dweller in 13# would set out into the wastelands of America to find a new water chip before the 150 days elapsed and the water reserves ran out. Along his quest he would encounter other survivors, some who would oppose him, some who would try to convert him to their cause, some who would join him and fight by his side. Two plot twists (which I won't reveal) and numerous smaller character events drove the first game and I think should be preserved to make a good Fallout film. Needless to say the wanderer from Vault 13 finds his mission encompassing more then his vault's water situation.
With Fallout 3 the series seems to have taken a huge leap foreword. With passion, accuracy, and commitment to making a good film, the series might take another great leap along the line, into the wastelands of the theater.

  • What's the effect called that make a scratchy sound and appears to have words scrolling vertically really fast? Please help.

  • @ThoseGuys202

That's a classic effect that really happens with older films. I think its a description of the reel number.

As for the clip I got it from I used some actual cold war era videos.

  • What movie is 1:24 - 1:27 from?

  • @ThoseGuys202

The logo is from Constantine, and the info-mercial scenes are actually from a trailer for Fallout :)

  • It would instantly work as a movie but at the same time be long and very boring

  • @BurbleCut01

Not really. Have you seen Mad Max? ;)

  • and stalker....

  • The beginning reminded me of Tranquility Lane...

  • Don't forget companions, they can come and go depending on the episodes story line.

  • fallout would be better as a TV series there is too much material to cover mutants zombies death claws robots church of the apocalypse, Brotherhood of steel, the enclave, tribes vaults, and much more.

there is potential for TV shows to stretch out the story, but to compress it into a movie would destroy the franchise.

  • Best one you've done

  • @bloodrunsclear nice clip of fallout two with the enclave i loved that game

  • Fallout Movie. One of the main characters could be part of an American spec. ops team investigating a Chinese missile silo, who find out that the Chinese are going to launch nuclear missiles in a few days. The other main character would be another soldier, but on American soil. Him and his team find information on an American silo, after the bombs fell. The spec. ops team in China stop only a few missiles, while the soldier at home fights his way to the launch station to send missiles to China.

  • what film is that at 2:33 ?

  • @jorginhoremix

    A Boy and His Dog.

It's a really disturbing movie, but it was probably one of the biggest influences on Fallout that I can think of, aside from the ending montage of Dr. Strangelove. You'll see references to Fallout all the time, from Feral Ghouls to Vaults, even if they're not referred to as such by name. I loved it.
