Lyrics (by Frank Loesser)

You have the cool, clear eyes of a seeker of wisdom and truth
Yet there's that upturned chin
And the grin of impetuous youth
Oh, I believe in you
I believe in you

I hear the sound of good, solid judgment whenever you talk
Yet there's the bold, brave, spring of the tiger that quickens your walk
Oh I believe in you
I believe in you

And when my faith in my fellow man
All but falls apart
I've but to feel your hand grasping mine
And I take heart
I take heart

To see the cool, clear eyes of a seeker of wisdom and truth
Yet with the slam! bang! tang! reminiscent of gin and vermouth
Oh, I believe in you
I believe in you

  • I love this movie...! Great Loesser tune! I like the strings... I think the funniest part is "Rosemary, that gives me an idea!" !!! LoL

  • ML appeared in a trainwreck at the Ogunquit Playhouse ("Summer of Love") Maine in late June 2011.

Why she consented to be in that bomb is unfathomable.

  • Does Rosemary sing this at all in the musical?

  • I really like Michele Lee, but this scene RUINED the movie. The comic point of Finch's singing of this song later in the production was that he sang it to HIMSELF! As a result of her singing it to him first, it makes that great moment seem like he is only remembering HER evaluation of him. It takes all the zip out of the number.

  • Where can i find the sheet music for this version !

  • @jaybeeisking215 I still belive in you.......i do

  • it's amazing how Morse became the owner of the company in like a week...I love this movie so much...

  • Funny how Morse says he's "27 years old, not getting any younger", sure he

WAS getting younger, considering he was actually 35 or 36 at the time of this movie.

  • @julbim You've said a mouthful and all that you said made me smile. I think that Mercer and Carmichael are great but NO one makes my heart go pitter-patter like Loesser. All day I've been singing his songs. I just LOVE this guy! Thanks for YOUR comment!

  • @chinzebo I agree. You know, in terms of really understanding the day to day human condition and needs I wonder if there has ever been a greater songwriter than Frank Loesser. I am in eternal awe at his lyrics, both humorous and romantic, coupled with his incredible melodies and harmonies...My Time Of Day would have made Ravel or Debussy proud and My Heart Is So Full Of You is the joint greatest love duet alonside Bess You Is My Woman Now.
