Imran Khan is right when he says that Pakistan is an Indian nation and hence ready for democracy like India. Unfortunately, Pakistan is considered a middle-east nation by USA and hence dictatorship is seen as the best thing there.

Why he didn't take a part in election? one of two reasons... if he had went, he could have been harmed because Musharaf is an ass who a dictator and b-bhutto was literally supporting musharaf by stepping into elections. Not just Imran, but almost all parties didn't participate.

What happened in Iraq ? 4 millions are refugees there, 1 million are dead , Are you waiting for same kind of democracy in Pakistan ? Democracy is only useful when people forget about internal fight and think about nations growth.
