  • lol "2 billion light years, approaching the edge of the universe".... nope not by a long shot

the edge of the OBSERVABLE universe is 46-47 billion light years away, and that is just the observable universe - the reason that the universe is so much larger in light-years than its age (13.75billion years old) is due to the expansion of space

and, the observable universe is getting bigger every second due to more and more light being able to reach us, the universe could easily be infinite.

  • One word for all of this: THEORY, on a more firm basis than metaphysics, but less so than the scientists would have us believe.

  • You know those motes of dust you see floating around in the rays of light coming in thru ur window?

Those motes of dust are halfway in size between the Earth and an Atom.

  • why do u think they call it space the word itself explains it let me say it for u it is big!!!!!!!

  • if the universe is always expanding and your ten feet away from it you`ll always be ten feet away if u keep following it. And at this rate we`re nowhere close to the end its impossible to reach it.

  • @IhaxFTW

but what is beyond the edge of the universe? I always figured the universe to be infinate, I think there are pretty weird things beyond it... like dark matter... not even the top scientists and astronomers know what dark matter really is even though it is out there.

  • there is an edge of the universe, its just that the gravity from all the galaxies that "pull" the universe together creating a sphere-like universe so there it is, the edge of the universe

  • @MikeyZeov <-- This guy is one of the smartest people I've met/seen on the internet. I agree with you but hey what if God was actually real? What if the big bang was real. We don't know and probally won't know in OUR lifetime. Oh btw to you christain people who beleive in god. It was made by a drunk man back like 2000 years ago. Problem? (insert troll face)

  • @nikobrown1990 That's right...and in addition to that, Alan Guth's Inflation Theory states that our universe (which is just one among an infinite number of universes) should be at least 10^23 times larger than the observable universe, which as you said is estimated to be around 93 billion light-years in diameter!

We will never know for sure whether the universe is infinite or finite. The best we'll be able to do is place a lower limit on its size, i.e. the universe is at least _____ across.

  • @ThisLittleAddict what did i just tell you? we have some theories that the big bang might have happened, how and when and stuff like that is what we are researching. bible being more scientific than science itself???? wow. Science is all about testing things, see how they evolve, how stuff works and so on... religion is just "God made trees, end of story".. so, dinosaurs? how about them? you like them?.

  • @MikeyZeov What proof? Let me ask you. How did the Big bang happen? What made the Big Bang? We don't know. Heck, God may have been the Big Bang. The bible may be more scientific then science it self.
