In 1974 was actually on a high. She'd performed four shows at Carnegie Hall the previous year, followed by a successful US tour. This show was a charity fundraiser. Similar circus galas in the US saw Marilyn Monroe on the back of a pink elephant, Marlene Dietrich as a compere and Ernest Hemingway writing an introduction in the programme. Nothing wrong with their careers at the time.

This just wasnt any circus, it was a gala and made for television.Look at the ppl in the audience...theyre in tuxedos...Shes performed with animals in a circus context 15 yrs previous to this...besides she loved animals

this video makes me both happy and sad..i can't believe things had gotten this bad for her that she had to perform at a circus..we need to take care of our national treasure's.there's no reason why we shouldnt be able to care for them so they dont need to do things like parade horses in a circus to pay the bills...its a shame!to know she was at one time the richest woman entertainer in the world...and then this..at the end....so sad..

Well alot of bad things happen to Baker, her heart was in the right place when she lost Les Milandes. The French Gov. has made her former home a national landmark alot to do with Baker geniune sprit
