I sail the high seas in glorious battle as I attempt to thwart a massive pirate ambush in the Carribean sea. My Dutch fleet, completely isolated and surrounded, brace themselves for the deadly scallywag onslaught.

  • How've they done with Naval battles?

  • They are not bad at all. They a little slow paced (even by Total War standards), but they are simply visually stunning to watch take place.

  • Yeah, they look pretty spectacular from some of the graphically intense youtube videos. How'd a 6GB computer(3.2 Ghz processor,) and 9800GT(1GB) video card do playing this game on the higher settings?

  • To give you a accurate assumption I would need more details that that, but generally 9800gt machines can pull off medium settings with AA and AF off.

My PC specs can be found on my YouTube page. My rig runs the game completely maxed with all the extra stuff turned on at 45+ FPS.

  • AI is not using any tactics?

  • 4GB RAM is fine, I would definitely upgrade the video card.

However, Airbusa is wrong...a HD4870 does not even come close to matching the performance of GTX280's, although it is a good card and is slightly better than a 9800GT.

Personally I reccomend getting a ATI HD4890, it should be around $180 by now or maybe even cheaper. Check Newegg.

  • Hm, would you recommend upgrading 4GB RAM to 6, or upgrading that Geforce to ATI 4870?

  • Alright, I'll take a look at that. Thanks.

  • Hmmm. I'd go for an ATI 4870. This card can match the performance of two GTX280's in SLI. And a 4870 could handle this game at higher settings.

  • Would you advice me to replaced my 9800 Geforce GT(1GB edition) with something more sufficient?
