This quick two-part tutorial will show you how to install our new V^3 backlight into your DMG in about 10 minutes. Our new design has a few new features, mainly the use of three leds in place of the former two, and a smaller LED light bar placed o the bottom of the unit. This allows for a quicker, easier install as there is no plastic cutting necessary and much less adjusting of your LCD once you are closing up your Game Boy. That plastic is there for a reason, it keeps your LCD centered! The 4" wires also allow you to connect to the rear PCB instead of the front if you want your backlight to be on a regulated power supply, meaning as your batteries start to near the end of their life, your backlight will stay just as bright.

Finally, the V^3 is SUPER friendly to Pockets! We extended the wire length to allow for an easier installation in the Original's successor as well.

  • Yeah, it's pretty painfree. I didn't have to remove any plastic to install.

  • @indyginc the same thing just happened to me too. I'll just buy another "screen part" (not an entire GB) on internet and try to warm it up too. Please, inform me when you do it and how. Thank you.

  • @viewtifultony You can try to warm up the contacts on screen side like this

i have some spear screens with same problem .,., but i didn't try it my self

  • with one GB ewery think went fine ,but with my snd GBI had a problem .. :( With pealing off that screeen .

The glue is too old and i had to use lot of force to peal off that sonofab**ch..

and when i finished the glu partly was stuck on screen and wont come off

and glas screen opened in between .. and i think that screen is no longer usable ..

Now i have my last spear dmg1 screen left , i will try to warm up somehow before pealing it ..

  • Is it friendly with GB Color?

I want to buy a Pokemon-edition GBC for my girl and backlight it.

  • Hi dude I have one question I own a dmg with two dead lines in the screen if i install this backlight they solve the problem or I need a fawless screen, thanx.

  • @jmobrien92 Hahahaha! Me too man! I broke a clear one and a regular, am just gonna keep the shell and then buy a new gameboy and put the components inside it! Third time lucky! xD

  • be careful when peeling off the back of the screen. it is the hardest part because the ribbon things around it are brittle and can break easily

  • Where do you get this screen? I need to buy one

  • I've just recieved my V^3! Thank you NE.

  • Great What is the dimensions of the backlight itself? I was interested in mounting one in another LCD panel with no backlight. Thanks
