First attempt at a drive-by of a city this size. About 10 times larger than any previous "target". :-)

Strictly speaking, Canatara Park and the adjoining village under the north side of the bridge are a municipality known as "Point Edward". I think they remained separate from Sarnia originally so they didn't have to pay for real sewerage and could keep their septic tanks. Those days are gone and I'm not sure anyone knows why they are still separate. Habit, maybe. Ontarians are very good at doing things for reasons no one remembers.....but don't you DARE suggest changing anything!!!! That's how they like it. :-) This single charactistic alone more or less defines large parts of Canada. (tongue in cheek - sort of).

  • Nice video, I remember when I was fourteen back in 1986 and '87 we used to visit Sarnia often to shop at the Lambton mall. I only lived in Port Huron for just over a year, having grown up in NJ USA, and now having returned nearly 25 years ago, but this is a nice memory. I gotta say that we just don't get spare ribs and french fries the same way here as there, but if you want first class pizza, you have to come to New Jersey. If you ever visit USA, come to Point Pleasant, NJ.

  • @40JRvs Thanks! :-) But sad to say the US is now such a hostile place I'm unlikley to visit there any more. I used to travel to Canada through Los Angeles or San Fransico, It was always annoying that they didn't let you just be a 'transit' passenger and pass through as most countries do, but instead forced you to go through Customs and than BACK through security to get to your onward flight. now add scanners and shoes off and frisking. No thanks. Most airlines now route around the US.

  • I was born and raised in Sarnia and recently moved to Edmonton, Alberta. Sarnia is a beautiful city to live in and grow up in. (Copied and pasted from below). Loved the video - hated the "music". so I gave it a "thumbs down". If you're going to put in music, why not put music that everyone will accept??

  • @getdusty1 Thanks for the comment. Absolutely true about Sarnia. The hot summers on the beach were awesome when I was kid. As for the music, "music everyone will accept" doesn't exist as far as I know and Moby is a very popular guy.....I get few complaints. Plus it's my video and I like it. :-)

  • @linuxluver I am very sorry to hear about that. I do have a friend who has recently gone over to your side to visit Niagara Falls and had little or no trouble. But please realize too that we are currently having a problem now with terrorism and so fourth. The Arab world hates us because we support Israel and because we have laws in our country that protect women and minorities. So we have to be very careful. Please don't take it personally. You are always welcome to visit my town.

  • @RickMercer4PM ...all the time. I was just explaining why I gave it a thumbs down. Is that a crime?? I guess I should have just given it a thumbs down and not said anything huh??

  • @getdusty1

Ever heard of people may like different types of music other than yourself?

  • excelent video, t.u. good memories

  • @linuxluver I said I loved the video.

  • I was born and raised in Sarnia and recently moved to Edmonton, Alberta. Sarnia is a beautiful city to live in and grow up in. I didn't think I would miss it this much. When I lived there, I couldn't wait to leave. Now I can't wait to go back! I find that people take for granted where they live (wherever it is). Sarnia is a very scenic city with next to NO crime, nestled in between beautiful Lake Huron and the St. Clair River. I can't wait to go back!
