Like a lot of people I was less than impressed with the design of the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fountain. I was even less impressed when the thing started having problems! But when you really take a chance to look at it the Memorial is actually very artistic and moving. For all its hard austere stone it has moments of grace and beauty.

It will never be a traditional royal Memorial. And although it would be nice to some day have a statue of Diana in London, the Memorial Fountain--for all it's unfortunate problems--is a remarkable and moving monument to a remarkable Princess who moved many.

I hope this video, made in remembrance of the 10th anniversary of Princess Diana's death, conveys that feeling. :)

  • ....so beautiful the music and the sentiment of this tribube...yes, it is not the type of "momument" that we may consider for a princess, (Our Princess)...however, she was certainly not the "normal Princess"....the circle of the austre stone is captivating and never ending...the circle...Diana's memory and love is never ending....

    blessings,

  • i happened to be in london the day the fountain was dedicated... and saying i was moved was an understatement. i've lived in DC my entire life, so i've seen plenty of monuments & memorials... and this ranked high on my list of favorites. i was pressed against the metal barrier, talking with a police officer (or the english equivalent) for 2hrs, when i saw diana's boys.

    i cried on international television.

got lots of grief for it back in the U.S. on my homecoming.

    wouldn't change a thing.

  • Beautiful

  • Extremely moving and so much love in the production is apparent. To miss our loved ones never goes away no matter how we might work at activationg the memories of yesterday into today to ease the pain of loss.

  • This is peaceful, one of the better tributes

  • Simply excellent 5/5

  • Great 10 year tribute. I'd love to be able to visit the fountain one day.
