Sonia M'Barek began singing Maluf - traditional Tunisian court music - as a child. She trained in the Tunis conservatory. While rooted in the traditional maluf repertoire, M'Barek steps beyond it. She also pens many of her own compositions, and collaborates with great artists such as Anouar Brahem , Naseer Shamma and Simon Shaheen. Along with Anouar Brahem and Lotfi Bouchnak, she is one of the greatest Tunisian talents. She has won many prizes in Tunisia and France, including the Diapason d'Or for her third CD Takht. In the last decade, she has taken part in many music festivals in the Arab world, in Europe and in the USA

  • @thejokingcoyote try mijwiz as well

  • @blackeagle989444 i just find it a little bit ironic that you are being so judgemental against americans for judging others... you gotta give us a break - most people are just ignorant and that's not necessarily their fault...the education system is all screwed up and we're bombarded with brainwashing media constantly... and not everyone is smart enough and/or curious enough to question what their taught... be mad at the people on top. and just make beautiful music to change peoples' minds' :)

  • where did you spend your five years in america?? it is an EXTREMELY diverse place and you'll find different cultures and mindsets everywhere you go... from town to town, state to state, region to region. there is good and bad everywhere, and these are very harsh generalizations! i'm sorry you had such a negative experience...

if it is any comfort to you, i am an american pursuing arabic music, and my whole family, even my super conservative grandparents from the south, is very supportive.

  • i love this woman!!! does anyone know if she teaches somewhere or is does she only perform?

  • @arabviolin

  • at 7:16 i got a wonderful glimpse of the sheet music!
