during max speed veyron uses up all of it's fuel in 12 minutes and it's tires wear out in less than 15 minutes. at that moment it's range is only 80km!!! (do the math if you please) the creators of veyron did a splean job in creating a hell of a fast car but they sacrifised it's efficiency. so the answer to your question is based on how long will the race be

Yeah, the funny thing is that the t-zero probably cost that guy somewhere around 20k to produce. This thing is the exotic car industry's worst nightmare, well other than the recession :) But truth be told, there's no reason why an electric car couldn't do zero to sixty in 2 seconds, with a top speed somewhere in the 200 mph range, especially with new super capacitors.

"You were quick off the line." "No shit because all there was on this track was a line and a finish-line two feet away."

you are right, but the development of high-speed electric cars is not that far yet, it is only time before an EV beats the Bugatti, the EV doesnt have to shift gears so everybody should be able to repeat it perfectly. It would be cool to have one day an EV and to be able to outdrive any expensive ferrari or porche on the street :)
