  • Glad to be of assistance.

  • Turned the cone shape on a woodlathe first.

Then mounted it in a jig and routed the three grooves.

  • There are no close tolerance bearings in this machine so a little engine oil once per month is sufficient. This machine is over 100 years old.

  • THANK YOU! I have been having so many problems with my rope and now I see it is my set up!

  • @jmayo33021

Do you have a three or four hook rope machine?

Let's say it is a three hook one.

Start with a larger block of wood.

Then do the layout to drill three holes at an angle through the length of it.

Now, Chop, split, cut or whatever to remove the outer wood until you are at the center of those holes.

Smooth it all up and there you are.

  • Did you make the traveler? I was trying to find plans on how to make one. Thanks.

  • Good job! how much lubrication & type is generally used on the gear teeth and rubbing surfaces inside the machine?

    regards,
