The Tomb Is Empty by David Haas
Tombs do not exist only in cemeteries, they are also found in the deepest places of our hearts, these tombs hold our sadness, sin, despair, and shame. Too many of us are kept poisoned and trapped in tombs of self hatred and imprisoned in tombs of loneliness, addiction, and sickness. Too many of us are confined in tombs of abuse and violence, bound by chains of racism, discrimination and hatred.
Jesus comes into our lives and proclaims that this does not have to be the way. He holds our shame close to his loving heart, knowing our darkest places and providing healing and acceptance. Jesus brings companionship and friendship, and helps us find a path unobstructed by the forces and substances we use to medicate our pain and suffering.
Jesus showers us with love that washes away the horrors that hount us, breaks down all barriers, and calls every person to become a child of God.
If we want, we can be freed from our tombs if we say yes to Jesus, We can rejoice in the truth of the resurrection. We can find true victory in which our lives are restored and fear is calmed by the power of the love of Christ, risen forever.
