I'm a native Michigander, went to school at UM and can assure you these girls sound like this! There are a load of Long Islanders that attend to UM, and they eventually end up saying 'paaaahp' instead of 'soda'!

well i know i don't talk like that at all. some people do, but most don't. it depends what area you are in. but most people in michigan have a perfect radio and television voice.

i hate those girls!!! those are the girls that [i'm about to tell you their whole outfit everyday when they come to school everyday] wear their hair up all messy, wear tight shirts or hoodies, wear the sweat pants (three layers of sweat pants! why???) with like the juicy or pink logo on them, and to top their fugy outfit off they wear UGG boots! I don't get it! Where i'm from in Michigan i get made fun of for wearing converse and cute artsy clothes! do only michigan girls dress like that?

I just to have to chime in and say this ( because I just got an e-mail about this as well) this is a Michigan/Island accent. A combo of Michigan and Long Island, as in the girls who grew up in NYC and then came to U of Michigan for school. My regular speaking voice, that's a Mich accent.
